Nikhil Rao

Nikhil Rao teaches South Asian history at Wellesley College, in Massachusetts. He is the author of House, But No Garden: Apartment Living in Bombay’s Suburbs, 1898–1964 (University of Minnesota Press, 2013). He is currently working on a book that examines the history of cooperative housing, tentatively titled From Improvement to Gentrification: Property, Citizenship, and the Fates of Cooperative Housing in 20th‑Century Bombay.
